RETURN TO THE FRONT PAGE: CULTURAL-EDUCATIONAL RESPONSIVENESS MOVE ON TO: DIFFERENTIATION
You will complete this project with a small group of students from the EDUC625 community. The objective of this assignment is to expand your circle of cultural awareness, gain a better understanding of an aspect of a divergent cultural life and then be able to relate that understanding to the relevant issues revealed in this class; to your ongoing education & professional development; as well as the development of your personal and signature pedagogical practice. You will participate in three immersion experiences. One of the three events MUST involve attending a religious service conducted in a language other than English. One event MUST include two face-to-face interviews; one with a person over 50 who self-identifies as a member of a divergent cultural group; and one face-to-face interview with one of your students (see Oral History page). The remaining event or experiences may include attending cultural festivals, weddings, visit to a cultural center, or dinner at a restaurant or private home. Photos, from each of the three experiences must be recorded. You will conduct an interview/discussion after each experience. You will share your experience with the class through an engaging multimedia presentation - PhotoStory, Animoto, IMovie, or Slide Rocket during one of the last class sessions.
